yes vlc works great i been using for a long it runs on my music & videos & codecs run fast it uses very little ram & easy on the single core most low end pcs i got work windows 98 computers & on xp/mce computers & vista/server 08/windows 7 computers it works great and I don't really have any problems but i cant play MP4's most avi & mp3 & divx/xvid run smoothly aspect ratio is very useful when playing videos in higher or lowwer screen resolutions
